Joint Entrance Examination (JEE)

The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India (GOI) has established National Testing Agency (NTA) as an independent autonomous and self-sustained premier testing organization for conducting efficient, transparent and international standards tests in order to assess the competency of candidates for admissions to premier higher education institutions.

Admission test to Undergraduate Engineering Programs at NITs, IIITs, other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTI) and Institutions funded by participating State Governments, is JEE (Main) conducted by NTA. The Paper-1 (B. E. /B. Tech.) of JEE (Main) will also be an eligibility test for the JEE (Advanced), which the candidate has to take if he is aspiring for admission to the undergraduate programs offered by the IITs.

The JEE (Main)-2019 will be conducted twice before admissions in this academic session. The Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced) will be conducted by the seven Zonal Coordinating (ZC) IITs under the guidance of the Joint Admission Board (JAB) . The performance of a candidate in this examination will form the basis for admission to the Bachelor’s, Integrated Master’s and Dual Degree programs (entry at the 10+2 level) in all the IITs, IIPE and RGIPT.

Examination Pattern: The examination consists of two papers (Paper 1 and Paper 2) of three hour duration each. Both the papers are compulsory.

Candidates should be among the top 2,24,000 (including all categories) in Paper-1 of JEE (Main).
